SOUTHFIELD, MI – June 7, 2019 – Buckfire Law is pleased to announce that Zoe Grisez of Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named this year’s recipient of the 2019 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Disability Scholarship.
Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. is committed to helping students reach their goals. Realizing the financial road block many students face in pursuit of higher education, the family-owned firm established an annual scholarship award in 2013 committed to helping students with disabilities or injuries in their pursuit of their degree.
Grisez will be beginning her first year of undergraduate school this fall, pursuing an English and Creative Writing degree
at the University of Denver.
Grisez was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy in 2002, but that has not stopped her from pursuing her dreams. She graduated high school with a litany of honors, including being named a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the National Thespian Society, and having received Summa Cum Laude honors. On top of her studies, she volunteers as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Ambassador for Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation.
“Both organizations have had major impacts on my life personally so I’m focused on giving back to them,” Grisez said.
Her passion for helping others does not stop there. With her degree, Grisez hopes to fight for disabled Americans to receive equal access to higher education and fair treatment in their everyday lives. Through her writing, Grisez plans to create characters and storylines that are more inclusive to representing those with disabilities.
“I was blown away by Zoe’s enthusiasm and ambition,” said Lawrence J. Buckfire, President and Lead Trial Attorney at Buckfire Law. “Zoe’s an inspiration to us all, and – given her talent for writing and telling stories – she has an extremely bright future. I couldn’t be prouder to name her our Buckfire Disability Scholarship winner this year.”
Every year, Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. awards one student with the $1,000 Disability Scholarship. The scholarship is available to students of any age, with any type of disability, including but not limited to physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental or psychiatric conditions, speech and language, learning disabilities, behavioral conditions, and all
other conditions.
Founded in 1969 by David Buckfire, Buckfire & Buckfire P.C. represents clients injured in all types of accident and injury cases. The firm offers four separate academic scholarships annually for students wanting to continue their education. For more information on the scholarship program, visit our page.
