Information About Flint
Flint is in Genesee County with a population of over 95,500. The city is famous for being the birthplace of General Motors and has a rich history of culture and innovation.
The Northbank Center is part of the University of Michigan-Flint campus and is located just north of the Flint River at 400 – 432 North Saginaw Street in Flint. It is a multi-use facility featuring university offices, classrooms, and conference space as well as tenant office space available for long-term leasing.
The Industrial Savings Bank was founded in 1909 to serve merchants and factory workers on Flint’s north side. However, during Flint’s economic boom period in the first two decades of the twentieth century, the bank quickly grew, serving customers citywide. The 12-story structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
UM-Flint acquired the NBC in 1999. A year later, $3 million worth of renovations created office and classroom space as well as the ballroom. It is also the location of the campus’s dance and art studios as well as a number of academic programs.
