Buckfire Law is representing the family of Lansing jail inmate Anthony Hulan, who died from suffocation and excessive force after he was physically restrained by police officers in his cell. The civil lawsuit is against the city and the Lansing Police Department for wrongful death and to hold the officers accountable for their actions.

Buckfire Law Firm is representing 20 Michigan and Ohio residents in a case against a Detroit steam company for severe burns caused by manhole steam. The plaintiffs range from 3 to 71 years old,  with 4 of the victims being children. This claim alleges the steam company failed to warn citizens about the dangers of the steam and take appropriate action to maintain the system.

A lawsuit against Detroit Thermal and other energy companies didn't properly maintain their systems that moved steam through the city when more than 20 people were severely burned by the vented mist. After one man was knocked off his motorcycle in 2018, he landed on a manhole cover that branded letters into his leg because it was so hot.
