Mariana Goettemoeller named winner of the Buckfire Law 2024 Disability ScholarshipSOUTHFIELD, MI – Nov. 1, 2024 – Buckfire Law is pleased to announce Mariana Goettemoeller, of Lincoln, Neb., has been named this year’s recipient of the 2024 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Disability Scholarship.

Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. is committed to helping students reach their goals. Realizing the financial roadblock many students face in pursuit of higher education, the family-owned firm established a scholarship award in 2013 committed to helping students with disabilities or injuries in their pursuit of their degree.

Goettemoeller is currently in nursing school at Bryan College of Health Sciences. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology in 2023 from Benedictine College.

Goettemoeller was 15 years old when she experienced family loss and adversity. After being surrounded by caring, attentive nurses and doctors, she was drawn to pursue a career as a nurse. She has since worked as a certified nursing assistant, medication aide, and phlebotomist.

A few years ago, she dealt with her own mental health struggles and anxiety, which affected her everyday life and learning. “Yet all through that, I learned what it truly means to be cared for and loved, and came to realize my mission to do the same for others,” Goettemoeller said.

Goettemoeller expresses how important it is for her to prioritize and take care of her own mental health, so she is able to better help others. “With the strength that I gained, I am now better able to love and serve others, and I am so excited to begin this journey as a nurse who is willing to love and suffer with my patients, so I can strengthen others in gratitude for those who have strengthened me,” Goettemoeller said.

“Mariana’s determination to treat patients and their families with compassion is truly inspiring,” said Lawrence J. Buckfire, President and Lead Trial Attorney at Buckfire Law. “I am impressed by her strength and gratitude. I couldn’t be more proud to name her our Buckfire Law Disability Scholarship winner this year.”

Every year, Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. awards one student with the $1,000 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Disability Scholarship. The scholarship is available to a student of any age, with any type of disability, including but not limited to physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental or psychiatric conditions, speech and language, learning disabilities, behavioral conditions, and all other conditions
