Sean Abercrombie 2025 Disability Scholarship winnerSOUTHFIELD, MI – Oct. 20, 2025 – Buckfire Law is pleased to announce Sean Abercrombie, of Alpharetta, Georgia, has been named this year’s recipient of the 2025 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Disability Scholarship.

Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. is committed to helping students reach their goals. Realizing the financial roadblock many students face in pursuit of higher education, the family-owned firm established a scholarship award in 2013 committed to helping students with disabilities or injuries in their pursuit of their degree.

Abercrombie is currently majoring in kinesiology at the University of Alabama and earning a minor in sales.

Abercrombie was a typical teenager before he was paralyzed in an accident when he was 16 years old. Although he has spent much of the past few years relearning how to use his arms and adapting to the changes in physical therapy and spinal cord rehabilitation, he hasn’t given up. He chooses not to dwell on his accident and is instead fully committed to pursuing his education. He has a passion for the medical field and has since spent time gaining experience from internships in kinesiology.

“This experience taught me the true meaning of resilience over adversity. I’ve learned that adversity doesn’t erase who you are, it reveals who you can become,” Abercrombie said. Adjusting to living independently on campus brought new challenges; however, “these difficulties pushed me to adapt and grow both mentally and physically,” he said.

Abercrombie is collaborating with the engineering club at the University of Alabama to create an adapted shotgun device that supports disabled hunters. “I may live with a disability now, but I still love baseball, I still fish, and I still hunt. I’ve taught myself new ways to enjoy the things I love,” Abercrombie said. He is also involved with Ducks Unlimited on his campus and even made the Dean’s List this past semester.

“Sean’s determination and resilience are truly inspiring,” said Lawrence J. Buckfire, President and Lead Trial Attorney at Buckfire Law. “I am impressed with Sean’s passion for continuing his education in the medical field, while facing the challenge of relearning so many things. I couldn’t be prouder to name him our Buckfire Law Disability Scholarship winner this year.”
