taylor claiborne named winner of 2024 paralegal scholarshipSOUTHFIELD, MI – Nov. 1, 2024 – Buckfire Law is pleased to announce Taylor Claiborne, of Washington DC, has been named this year’s recipient of the 2024 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Paralegal Scholarship.

This annual award began in 2018 as a way for the Michigan-based law firm to show its commitment to helping paralegal students pursue their certification and ultimate career goals.
Claiborne is currently enrolled in Ann Arundel Community College’s Paralegal Studies Certificate Program.

After facing a difficult work situation, Claiborne became passionate about the value of having legal knowledge and protecting individual rights. This experience motivated her to pursue a law degree and legal career.

“I wanted to ensure that no one else would feel as powerless as I had,” Claiborne said. “Through my paralegal certification and beyond, I am determined to use my experiences to advocate for those who are marginalized, ensuring that everyone has access to justice and a fair chance at success.”

Claiborne’s goal is to specialize in employment law to create respectful workplaces and advocate for workplace injustices, as well as support policies for family caregivers. She is determined to make a positive, meaningful impact on her community.

“I am confident that by staying focused on my “why” – my purpose of advocating for justice and equity – I will overcome these obstacles,” Claiborne said.
Claiborne’s educational journey to pursue a career in law has been influenced by experiences and hardship.

“We’re proud of Taylor for using her obstacles and resilience to further her education and help others,” said Lawrence J. Buckfire, President and Lead Trial Attorney at Buckfire Law. “She’s going to make a difference in the community with her education and passion. We’re so pleased to name her the Buckfire Law Paralegal Scholarship winner this year.”

Every year, Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. awards one student with the $1,000 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Paralegal Scholarship. The scholarship is available to students enrolled in a paralegal program within the United States.

Buckfire & Buckfire P.C. recognizes that most people are stressed and overwhelmed after a serious injury or unexpected death and don’t know where to turn. Founded in 1969, the family-owned law firm provides superior legal representation and helps them from start to finish.
