Full Litigation Paralegal Job Description

To contribute to our personal injury law firm’s growth and success, Buckfire Law is hiring a Litigation Paralegal with a positive attitude who wants to make a difference for our clients.

Duties will include, but not limited to the following:

• Prepare Complaints and Jury Demands
• File pleadings with the courts (mail and e-filing)
• Prepare and Respond to Discovery Motions
• Prepare Initial Disclosures
• Prepare and Respond to Written Discovery
• Gather and confirm receipt of all required forms and authorizations;
• Order and summarize medical records
• Summarize deposition transcripts
• Obtain police reports and other documentation in support of the claim(s);
• Use Lexis to obtain pertinent information about parties and witnesses;
• Contact investigators as needed or upon request of Pre-Litigation and Litigation attorneys;
• Follow case direction requests of Pre-Litigation Manager and Litigation attorneys;
• Communicate with clients on a regular basis
• Assist with scheduling depositions and subpoenaing witnesses
• Adhere to all software written policies and procedures;
• Review and process case costs;
• Phone answering backup as needed;
• Meet and exceed KPIs set by Manager and COO;
• Collaborates and cooperates with other staff members if requested;
• Demonstrates a willingness to take on new tasks with a good attitude;
• Attends firm wide meetings as scheduled;

Litigation Paralegal Qualifications and Skills

• Effective problem-solving abilities;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities;
• Strong typing and computer skills;
• Understanding of Lexis Advance;
• Strong client service skills, including compassion and empathy;
• Ability to both follow instructions and think independently;
• Personable on phone interaction with clients, attorneys, and experts;
• Proficient on computer, internet, required software, and e-mail;
• Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented work environment;
• Professional demeanor and appearance;
• Strong personal focus on meeting or exceeding individual, department, and Firm goals;
• Willingness to learn and become proficient in new software and technologies.
