A Hard Fall on Broken Concrete
Sandra was walking into a police station to make an accident report after someone had hit her car. As she approached the building, she noticed that the concrete was badly damaged.
Her shoe caught on a raised edge in the walkway, and she fell hard onto her side. The impact nearly knocked her out. Her legs were scraped badly enough to leave scars, her ribs were bruised, and two police officers had to help her up before paramedics were called.
At first, Sandra did not realize how serious the injury to her left wrist was. By the next day, the pain was so severe that she could barely move it.
“I couldn’t believe that I tripped and how hard I fell.”
The Injury Was Worse Than She Expected
Sandra went to urgent care, where she learned that her wrist was broken. She was referred to an orthopedic surgeon, had X-rays, and wore a cast while the injury healed.
The injury affected the hand she depended on most: Sandra is left-handed. For roughly four months, she could not use that hand normally.
Simple tasks became difficult. Showering, washing her hair, preparing food, wrapping Christmas presents, and writing all became harder because she had to rely on her opposite hand.
Her orthopedic surgeon also warned that the wrist could cause future problems, including arthritis, because a broken joint is never quite the same afterward.
“You don’t realize how much you do with your dominant hand.”
Realizing She Might Need Legal Help
As Sandra understood how serious the injury was and how long recovery would take, she began to wonder whether she should speak with a lawyer. She had never hired a law firm for an injury and didn’t know whether she even had a claim.
A friend recommended Buckfire Law. Sandra researched the firm online, called a few other law firms, and then contacted Buckfire.
Making an Unfamiliar Process Feel Less Scary
When Sandra first called Buckfire, she did not know what information she needed to provide or what the legal process would involve. She said the team walked her through everything and explained what to expect from the beginning.
Sandra also spoke with other law firms. One asked for money up front, which was difficult for her because she lives alone, is a widow, and is living on a limited income.
Buckfire explained that the fee would come from a settlement rather than requiring her to pay up front. That helped Sandra feel more comfortable moving forward.
Just as important, Sandra said Buckfire was direct and honest about the process, the possible timeline, and what would happen next.
“They made it so that it wasn’t a scary process.”
Updates Without Having to Chase Anyone
Sandra said Buckfire stayed in touch consistently, often contacting her about twice a month. The team explained when they were collecting records, when they had sent paperwork, and why certain parts of the process might take longer.
She offered to gather medical records herself, but Buckfire told her the firm could handle that once she signed the necessary paperwork. Sandra said that meant she did not have to manage the legal work herself.
Because the team kept reaching out, Sandra did not have to wonder what was happening with her case or repeatedly call for updates.
“I didn’t have to chase them around.”
Focusing on Healing
Sandra’s recovery took months. Her ribs were badly bruised, her wrist was immobilized in a cast, and she later went through therapy so she could use her left hand normally again.
Because she is left-handed and lives alone, losing the use of that hand affected nearly everything she did. Sandra said Buckfire’s handling of the case allowed her to concentrate on getting better instead of worrying about paperwork and legal details.
The regular communication also helped ease the anxiety she initially felt about going through a lawsuit for the first time.
“Buckfire allowed me to work on my healing.”
A Five-Figure Settlement
Sandra said the entire legal process took about a year, which was shorter than she expected.
The case ultimately resulted in a five-figure settlement that Sandra and Buckfire said was a good outcome.
For Sandra, the settlement also provided something practical: money she could set aside for unexpected expenses such as home or car repairs, which mattered because she handles those responsibilities on her own.
Honesty Mattered Most
Sandra repeatedly returned to one quality when describing Buckfire: honesty. That mattered to her personally and helped her feel confident in the firm throughout the case.
During the process, another person told Sandra she had chosen a good, honest law firm. Hearing that reinforced the confidence she had already developed from her own experience.
Sandra also valued the thoroughness of the work and the way the team took time to explain the process rather than leaving her to figure it out on her own.
Looking Back
Looking back, Sandra said the experience was much easier than she expected when she first considered hiring a lawyer.
She had been nervous, in pain, and unsure about the idea of suing anyone. Buckfire’s communication, explanations, and personal treatment helped make an unfamiliar situation manageable.
Sandra said she would recommend Buckfire to someone in a similar situation because the firm made her feel comfortable, kept her informed, and didn’t make her feel like an inconvenience.
“Choosing them was the best thing that I ever did.”
