A Routine Drive Home
On October 3, 2023, Damian just left the grocery store and was driving home. He stopped at a red light on Moross Avenue near Channel Park Drive, close to where he lived.
Without warning, another vehicle rear-ended him. The impact thrust Damian forward, and he hit his head hard enough to lose consciousness.
When he came to, emergency responders and nearby people helped him out of the vehicle. What had begun as a routine drive home had suddenly become an accident that Damian said changed his life.

Waking Up in the Hospital
Damian said he woke up at St. John Hospital with significant pain in his neck and back. Imaging and testing followed, and he later underwent neck surgery and a fusion procedure in his back.
His treatment did not end there. Damian said he continued dealing with a stiff neck, lower-back pain, groin and leg pain, migraines, and occasional blurred vision. He remained in therapy and continued receiving injections for pain in his neck and lower back.
The crash left him facing a long recovery and a level of physical limitation he had not expected.
