Can I sue a Doctor for Malpractice in Saginaw?

Patients can sue a doctor or hospital if harmed due to a medical mistake. These are known as medical malpractice cases.

These lawsuits demand compensation for patients and often their families.

There are many types of medical negligence. These include surgical errors, missed diagnosis, medication mistakes, anesthesia errors, and improper discharge from a hospital emergency room.

Many times, the medical malpractice involves failure to treat a stroke, heart attack, or pulmonary embolism that causes permanent damage to a patient or even death.

Other times, it is a misread CT scan that resulted in misdiagnosis of cancer or another serious medical condition.

In Saginaw, the largest hospitals are Covenant Medical Center Harrison, Covenant HealthCare, and Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. In addition, the Alda E. Lutz VA Medical Center provides treatment to those who served in the United States military.

If you or someone you care about was the victim of medical malpractice, call us today.

Our experienced lawyers will get your records and determine if you have a case. If you do, we pursue  a lawsuit for you demanding a settlement payout to compensate you for your harms and losses.

Who Can I Sue for a Dog Bite?

Rules & Regulations for Dog Ownership in Saginaw

In addition to state liability laws, Saginaw has a dog bite ordinance. According to Sec. 10-36, it’s unlawful for “any person to suffer or permit a vicious, fierce or dangerous dog to go unconfined and unrestricted on such person’s premises, or to run at large.”

The ordinance defines a dangerous dog as:

“Any dog with a propensity, tendency, or disposition to attack, to cause injury or to otherwise endanger the safety of human beings or other domestic animals; or Any dog that attacks, attempts to attack or that, by its actions, gives indication that it is liable to attack a human being or other domestic animal one or more times without provocation; or Any dog of a breed that appears consistently in the top five (5) of the breeds on credible, analytical listings of “Most Dangerous Dogs” as verified and supplemented by local data and records for Saginaw County.

The “list” shall include any dog that by physical appearance could be believed by any reasonable person to have sufficient physical or temperamental characteristics or behaviors to be a “mix” of any of the breeds listed or a “mix” with a non-listed dog where the mixture exhibits the dominant physical appearance of a dog on the list, and any other dog that has the substantial physical characteristics and appearance of those breeds on the list. Such list shall be updated annually and available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office.”

Saginaw’s city council passed its “dangerous dog” ordinance in April 2011, which says citizens owning such dogs, including all pit bulls, Presa Canarios, bull mastiffs, Rottweilers and German shepherds, have until June 30 to register their dog for a $20 fee and pick up a “Dog on premises” sign to post in front of their homes.

Fines for violation of the ordinance start at $100 and double for repeat offenses.
