Below Knee Amputation Michigan Nursing Home Settlement
Our Michigan nursing home negligence lawyers filed this claim against a skilled nursing facility. The case alleged that a CNA or nurses’ assistant negligently dropped a 96 year resident while attempting to transfer him from his bed to his wheelchair. The patient was at high risk for falls and required two people to assist him in all transfers.
One CNA tried to move him all by herself and she dropped him to the floor. He suffered a fractured right tibia and fibula requiring surgery. After the surgery was performed, he loss blood flow to his right leg which resulted in the need for his leg to be amputated below the knee.
Claims were brought for his past and future pain and suffering, past and future economic losses, his out of pocket expenses. A life care plan also showed the cost for his needed 24 hour care. The case was settled for a confidential amount after depositions but before trial.
